Drug Crime Defense

Drug Crime Defense

The Georgia Controlled Substances Act statutorily regulates, among other things, the possession, possession with the intent to distribute, distribution, trafficking, and manufacture of illegal drugs, such as marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, anabolic steroids, LSD, and ecstasy, and also prescription drugs. Aside from possessing less than one ounce of marijuana, the possession of illegal drugs is a felony carrying up to fifteen years in prison, if convicted. Repeat offenders are subject to special sentencing, that often includes prison time without the possibility of parole.

The successful defense of some drug cases can be dependent upon pre-trial attacks on the admissibility of evidence. Holly Hogue has years of experience with complex Motions to Suppress Illegally Seized Evidence and Motions to Exclude Statements by Defendant. Holly has persuaded courts to exclude statements and suppress drugs and has beaten otherwise weak cases by showing a constitutional violation on the part of the government.
